Color Trends

Each fall, paint and interior design companies pick a color of the year. Color trends are studied throughout the year to identify what colors will shape our homes and lives in the next year and for years to come. They can provide a good starting point for designers and homeowners when choosing paint colors for a home and can provide insight on design trends for years to come.

In 2022, varying shades of green were overwhelmingly chosen as color of the year. This choice signaled a desire for people wanting to incorporate more nature and natural materials into their home and interior spaces. Green is often seen as a calming color and a signal of regrowth and freshness that many had been gravitating towards.

Sherwin-Williams Color of the Year- Evergreen Fog

As we stepped into 2023, while neutrals remained a dominant theme the tones of the colors became richer. This can be seen in Sherwin Williams color of the year Redend Point and Dunn-Edwards Terra Rose. Both earthy pink colors which can be found in natural materials such as Terra Cotta or Pink Quartz. Muted pinks fills the gap between calming neutrals and the sense of refinement that is wanted in these spaces.

Looking into 2024 and 2025, organic and naturally derived colors will continue to trend due to their connection to the outdoors. Colors such as functional beige which embrace warm wood tones and raw fiber and muted rust with its artisanal yet comforting tones are colors to look out for. You can use these color trends not just to find paint colors for your spaces but also when purchasing furnishings or accessories for your home. Layering in neutral colored materials such as woods and stone and other natural materials can add warmth and texture which will help round out your spaces
